MP Taylor Bachrach reacts to Trump’s inauguration
“At a time when Canadians should be standing shoulder to shoulder and pushing back on unprecedented economic threats, we’ve heard virtually nothing from the leader of the Conservative Party. Meanwhile, the Conservative Premier of Alberta is down in Mar a Lago actively undermining Canada’s strategic position. The truth is, the Conservatives’ vision for Canada isn’t far off Trump’s vision for the U.S., and that should frighten us all,”
SMITHERS– Today, MP Taylor Bachrach (Skeena-Bulkley Valley) reacted to President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
“We live in frightening times,” said Bachrach. “I’m deeply troubled that Americans have chosen a convicted felon and rapist as their leader, and President Trump’s unhinged threats over the past two weeks create serious uncertainty for Canada. It's imperative now that we come together in unity, defend our country’s interests and protect the things that make Canada a great country.”
Bachrach said Trump’s return to the White House shines a harsh light on Canadian Conservatives.

“I’m thankful Canada has chosen a different path. At the heart of our national project is the idea that we can — and should — take care of each other,” said Bachrach. “Policies such as the Canadian Pension Plan, old-age security and universal health care have defined us as a country and distinguished us from the United States. My NDP colleagues and I have worked hard to expand on this legacy, with new national programs like dental care, pharmacare and childcare. As a proud Canadian, I’ll fight to defend what we’ve achieved together.”
