King Charles III Coronation Medal
The Coronation Medal was created to mark the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023. It is the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation.
As Member of Parliament, I have the privilege of presenting up to 20 medals to individuals living in the Skeena-Bulkley Valley constituency. Medals will be awarded to select nominees based on the award criteria and the recommendations of a panel of esteemed adjudicators from local communities (to be announced). To nominate a worthy individual, please complete a nomination form and submit it no later than midnight on Nov 30, 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this honour, a person must:
- Be an individual resident of the current federal riding of Skeena-Bulkley Valley;
- Have made a significant contribution to Canada, or to a particular province, territory, region of or community in Canada, or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada; and
- Been alive on May 6, 2023, the date of His Majesty’s Coronation. Nominations can be made posthumously, provided the nominee was alive on that date.
The Medal may only be awarded once.
Guidelines for the Selection of Nominees
The following guidelines have been developed to assist nominators:
- Nominations should focus on the achievements of persons who have helped build the Canada of today, including youth, volunteers, educators, veterans and health care workers.
- Nominees may be selected for their long service and good conduct as a volunteer or member of an organization; for having demonstrated high professionalism; or for performing a deed or activity that brings great credit to Canada.
- Through their achievements and sustained contributions, nominees will have distinguished themselves from others employed in the same field.
- The list of nominees should be inclusive and reflect the demographics of the region or community, with particular attention given to individuals belonging to groups that have been historically under-represented.
- The Medal is to be awarded to individuals only, not to groups or couples.
- Self-nominations will not be accepted.
- The selection process should be non-partisan and merit-based.
- Recipient names and their nominators will be published.
