HOW TO ENROLL
Who qualifies?
- no access to private dental insurance
- an adjusted family net income under $90,000
- a Canadian resident for tax purposes; and
- filed tax return in the previous year
Who pays?
- No upfront payment, oral health provider will submit claim directly to Sun Life
- Under $70,000 - 0% co-payment
- $70,000 to 79,999 - 40% co-payment
- $80,000 to 89,999 - 60% co-payment
How to enroll?
Due to the number of people who qualify this will be a phased enrollment
- Seniors aged 70+ will receive letters inviting them to enroll by phone
*87+ Letters sent Dec 2023
*77-86 Letters sent January 2024
*72-76 Letters sent February 2024
*70-71 Letters sent March
- Seniors aged 65-69 will apply online starting in May 2024
- People with disability and children under 18 will apply online in June 2024
- Applications for all remaining eligible Canadians will start by 2025
What is covered?
- Preventative services, including cleaning, polishing, sealants, and fluoride
- Diagnostic services, including examinations and x-rays
- Restorative services, including fillings
- Endodontic services including root canal treatments
- Prosthodontic services, including complete and partial removable dentures
- Oral surgery services, including extractions and medically necessary orthodontic
