When Greyhound pulled service from Western Canada in 2018, regions like Northwest BC were left with even fewer options to safely travel.
In the years since, public initiatives like BC Bus North have had some success meeting the demand, but these were always intended as stop-gaps and it is clear - more long-term solutions are needed. The future of safe passage along our northern corridor must be sustainable, affordable and accessible.
That’s why I’ll be bringing residents from across the Northwest together for an important discussion regarding the federal government's role in providing leadership towards a national public bus network - this project - on Tuesday, February 22nd at 7:00pm.
The town hall will be taking place virtually on Zoom, so please RSVP to take part. We will send participants who have registered the meeting link the day of the event. Gmail users may need to check in their "Promotions" tab to find the link.
You can also help me bring this critical issue to Ottawa by signing Petition E - 3723:
"We, the undersigned, residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to create or empower a national public corporation to provide transportation by bus and rail to Canadians, with the mission of connecting all communities within every province and territory with safe, affordable, accessible, resilient, and integrated service."
